Appartement de Roses et de Vignes has been restored to its 19th century beauty, having everything you could possibly want for a romantic and comfortable holiday. A canopied antique bed and daybed, a Juliet balcony, exposed beams and antique French furniture all create an enviable ambiance in the spacious rooms. The lounge has a sofa bed so the apartment can sleep 3 if necessary..The apartment also has modern aspects, wi fi, air conditioning and free Netflix, plus superb kitchen equipment. The apartment is accessed via an ancient wooden spiral staircase but, once in the gite, all is on the same level. There is a private outside courtyard on the ground floor where you can have your coffee and croissant, or that evening glass of wine, and there is also, just ten minutes walk away, a wildflower meadow, exclusively for your use, where you can take advantage of the recliners and relax at the side of the River Orbieu. Please note that the garden and river are accessed down steep concrete steps so are unfortunately probably not suitable for those with a mobility problem..
The apartment is in the middle of the village of Ferrals les Corbieres - a flourishing village just 30 minutes drive from a selection of 44 gorgeous beaches, even better, just five miles away, is a huge river where you can experience wild swimming - there are two further wild swimming spots within 20 minutes drive. Ferrals is surrounded by vineyards which offer excellent walks and cycling. It is also only 4 miles from the A61 motorway which offers easy access to the Roman city of Narbonne, and also to the wonderful and vibrant cities of Montpellier, Toulouse and Perpignan. It is within thirty minutes drive of two UNESCO World Heritage sites, Carcassonne and the Canal du Midi.
In the middle of the beautiful Corbieres, Ferrals is a joy for the history lover, from here you can access the Cathar castles, the medieval abbeys such as Fontfroide and Lagrasse and the Roman cities where, as in Nimes, you will see a Colosseum as good, or better, than any in Rome.
Ferrals itself offers a Bar/Restaurant where the owner/chef cooks over vine wood, a grocery shop, an artisinal Bakery, a Post Office/Bank, a beauty salon, two hairdressers and a Tabac for your local newspapers; there is also a takeaway Pizzeria. The village also has tennis and basketball courts and a petanque area at the side of the river. Several wine makers are based in the village, one being the Ledogars, the original owners of this property. Wine tasting is free and offered by all the chateaux.
